"We are chosen and called by the Father to follow Jesus, by consecrating ourselves in community through the power of the Holy Spirit. In response to this call and in imitation of the chaste, poor and obedient Christ, we freely choose to profess public vows of chastity, poverty and obedience. Our response, which the Spirit enables us to make in faith and trust, deepens our baptismal commitment and frees us to be fully open to God's creation and the service of God's people." Constitutions # 4

A woman recognizes a call from God to be a living vibrant member of the Sisters of the Holy Spirit and Mary Immaculate. She commits herself to living a vowed life. . . for the sake of the reign of God. Matthew 19:10- 30 gives us a rationale for choosing religious life. Celibacy. . . for the sake of the reign of God Poverty. . . the rich young man lived a good life but Jesus invited him to go sell what he had, give it to the poor and come follow him Obedience. . . Total dedication to the will of God. . . we seek to put on the mind of Christ who declared: "I cannot do anything of myself. . . I am not seeking my own will but the will of the one who sent me."

"Mary is an exemplar for us. . . Moved by faith and ever responsive to God's initiative she totally surrendered herself to the creative power of the Holy Spirit: "I am the servant of the Lord. Let what you have said be done to me." We desire that this be our response to." Constitutions #18
